Government-Authorised Vehicle Scrap Centres in India
The official directory of 203 centres approved by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (138 currently operational). Scrap your old car or bike at one of these to get the Certificate of Deposit — worth a road-tax rebate (up to ~25%) and registration-fee waiver on your next vehicle.
Two ways to scrap a vehicle — which one fits you?
Both are legitimate. The right choice depends on whether you want cash on the metal or the government's road-tax rebate on a new vehicle.
Regular scrap dealer
Best if you just want cash for the metal.
- Pays you the scrap value of the metal — usually a bit more than a centre would, gram-for-gram.
- Cash or UPI on the spot, no long paperwork.
- Works for any vehicle, any age, any condition.
- No Certificate of Deposit — you don't get the road-tax rebate.
- You're responsible for deregistering the vehicle with your RTO.
Government-authorised scrap centre RVSF
Best if you're buying a new vehicle and want the official tax rebate.
- Issues an official Certificate of Deposit — worth up to ~25% road-tax rebate and a registration-fee waiver on your next vehicle.
- Many manufacturers add a discount (often ~5%) on top.
- The centre handles deregistration with the RTO for you.
- You still get paid the scrap value of the metal — typically a touch lower than a kerbside dealer in exchange for the certificate.
- Best for end-of-life vehicles (15+ years for private, 8–10 for many commercial).
Not sure? If your vehicle is healthy and you're not buying a new one immediately, a regular dealer is usually simpler. If you're upgrading and the vehicle is overage, the Certificate of Deposit is worth thousands — go to a government-authorised centre.

What is a government-authorised vehicle scrap centre?
Under India's Vehicle Scrappage Policy (2021), only a Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) — referred to here as a government-authorised scrap centre — can legally deregister your end-of-life vehicle with the RTO/VAHAN and issue you a Certificate of Deposit (CoD). The CoD is a digital certificate, transferable, valid for two years, and when you present it on a new-vehicle purchase, you get a road-tax rebate (commonly up to ~25% for private vehicles and ~15% for commercial — set per state), a registration-fee waiver, and frequently a manufacturer discount (often ~5%).
A regular scrap dealer can pay you the metal value of your vehicle and is generally simpler, but cannot issue the CoD — so you don't get the tax rebate. If you only want cash for the metal (no certificate, no RTO paperwork), check our car scrap value estimator or bike scrap value estimator — they show today's value range and connect you with verified dealers in your city.

How to use this directory
- Pick your state from the grid above.
- Pick a centre that is Approved & Operational (the green pill on each card).
- Call the listed phone number to confirm they're accepting your type of vehicle (private car, two-wheeler, or commercial) and ask about timing and pickup.
- Take the RC, your ID proof, and an NOC from the financer if the vehicle was on loan. The centre handles the deregistration paperwork with the RTO.
